The number 359 on this card, published by J. White, suggests it possibly dates from the 1930s, and the visitors’ dress supports this. By then, wooden tea shacks had supplanted the remains of the chalk pit operations and the moorings were used for rowing boat hire. There was also a tea room on the other side of the bridge, which remains in that role today.
